Security & the Internet
Shopping using a credit or debit card has now become an accepted way to pay for goods or services. We are all comfortable with handing our card to a shop assistant or waiter, or giving our card details to someone on the other end of the telephone.
For many people however, putting card details into a web site is still an uncomfortable experience as we are not sure what is happening to the information we are submitting or where it is going..
When you pay for your driving tuition using our website you can be assured that your card details are securely encrypted during transport over the Internet so no one can read your card information.
In fact I don't even see your credit or debit card details as you are transfered to a secure site to take payment on my behalf - I use the well-respected payment-service-provider PayPal to authorise the transaction of credit or debit cards - in fact if you prefer, you can make a payment direct from a PayPal account if you have signed up for one - it's free to do so! If you want to find out more about PayPal, visit www.paypal.co.uk for more information.
How do I know the site is secure?
You should only give confidential information over the Internet, such as credit card details etc when your browser (Mozilla Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator or similar) shows a closed padlock at the top of the browser or at the bottom right-hand side in your browser's status bar depending on what browser you use and the url in the address bar of your Internet browser will start with https:// instead of the usual http://
I don't see a padlock but the site claims it is secure
The only time the site needs to be secure is at the point when sensitive information, ie Credit or Debit card details are about to be entered into the webpage.
Are credit card numbers stored on your server?
Not at all, it is NOT good practice to do that unless you have a secure server. The only people that see the card details are the PSP (Payment Service Provider)which is PayPal and the Bank at the point of authorisation.
Do I have to become a PayPal member to pay for my Driving Tuition on-line?
No, not at all, you can pay using your debit or credit card in the usual manner - it's totally up to you.
